Derek is an Executive Consultant with The CLEMMER Group, a
firm providing strategic consulting, education and training,
executive development, and improvement tools for personal, team,
and organization transformation. Derek provides a broad range of
consulting services to executives, teams, and organizations
undertaking transformation and performance improvement
initiatives. He helps Clients tailor and use the most effective
strategies, skills, and tools for high personal, team, and
organization performance.
Derek has almost three decades of management experience with
Bell Canada. His highly successful career included a
developmental mix of staff support, internal consulting, and
senior operations positions. Before retiring from Bell, Derek
held a senior management position responsible for all customer
operations in Eastern Ontario. He managed large multi-functional
operations that provided telecommunication services to over 1
million customers. Derek was also a leader in Bell Canada's
implementation of Total Quality Management. He successfully
coached, lead, and developed people in a team-based organization
dedicated to customer service and maintained the improvement
initiative's momentum. Derek is a highly skilled communicator
with hands-on, practical experience in both teaching and using
personal, team, and organization improvement. He studied and
benchmarked transformation approaches and practices in dozens of
leading and very successful organizations across North America
and around the world.
In addition to his strong background in Total Quality
Management, Total Quality Planning Tools and Seven Step
Methodology, Leadership and Coaching Skills training, Derek is
also a certified facilitator in Total Quality Concepts,
Creativity and Lateral Thinking, Stephen Covey's Seven Habits of
Highly Successful People, and Coaching for High Performance.
Derek is President of Junior Achievement of Ottawa-Carleton
and a member of the Board of Directors of Junior Achievement of
Canada. He holds an Honors Bachelor of Arts degree from York
University in Toronto and an Executive MBA from McGill
University in Montreal. He lives just outside Ottawa, in
Stittsville, Ontario, with his wife Barbara. They have two
children, Kim and Lee, and two grandchildren, Tyler and Brandon.
